What Should I do if my sunroof glass breaks?
Report the damage to us or your insurance provider as soon as possible. You can file your claim online and we can assist in scheduling a convenient appointment for the glass damage to be repaired. You should not operate the sunroof. This is result in further damage. Try to protect your car’s interior from weather damage. Park in a garage if possible, or cover the opening with low-tact tape and plastic. Be careful not to injure yourself on broken glass.
Does my insurance policy cover broken glass?
If your sunroof (or other glass, e.g., windshield, door glass or rear window) is damaged by something other than a collision, it’s generally handled under your comprehensive coverage. However, understand that this coverage is optional and if you don’t have it, you may be on your own when it comes time to pay for repairs. If you do have it, it is often subject to a deductible. To be certain, please refer to your policy or contact your agent and/or insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage.
Will checking my deductible or inquiring about auto glass claims raise my insurance rates?
Asking your insurance provider about your policy coverage and deductibles is generally not considered a claim. To be certain, please refer to your insurance policy.
Will filing an auto glass claim count towards my insurance policy?
In many cases, insurance companies will not count auto glass damage as a claim on your policy. To be certain, please refer to your policy or contact your agent and/or insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage
What if my deductible is the same or more than the auto glass service?
Before filing a sunroof repair claim, compare the cost of the repair with the amount of your comprehensive deductible. If your deductible is greater than the cost of the estimated repair, it won’t be worth your while to file a claim. We can still assist in getting your vehicle repaired, saving you money and billing you directly. However, some policies will waive the deductible for auto glass. To be certain, please refer to your policy or contact your agent and/or insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage.
